D800 Bluetooth issues

Hi all,

I've been reading about some of the bluetooth issies on this forum and have one of my own.

I went and disabled my bluetooth when I had no use for it. Now that I do, I can't turn it back on! I have tried the [Fn] + [F2] and this only works for the wifi card.

When I try to enable it it tells me "Bluetooth device not found. Pleas verify that your Bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on."

I have checked the BIOS settings and it says bluetooth is installed but gives me no options to play with it (enable or disable? just says its there...)

I have removed the card and plugged it back in, but no change. Should I start the computer without the card. Turn it off, reinstall the card and turn it back on again?

This is really annoying and any help you can offer would be great!

Thanks Glen.

First check with Device Manager if Bluetooth device is installed properly and works (asterisk indicates problems).

Consider upgrade of Dell TrueMobile driver.

Read the following final suggestion at: http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=latit_network&message.id=5309&view=by_date_ascending&page=3

I hope this will help.

I have checked device manager and it is not installed properly.

My Dell CD contains software that has been removed from the website and I believe that this software is the start of my problems.

I have tried all the Dell drivers that I can get my hands on for bluetooth and none of them have helped. Now they all die in the firmware upgrade section of the installer.

Is there any way I can return the firmware to its original state and then install the latest drivers?

Thanks in advance, Glen.

I think I have tried this but i'm not sure. Do you have the links to the doccumentation and the downloads. I think (not sure) that I have A05 as the latest I could download from the Dell website.

If you could point me to the right ones, it would be very handy. THanks Glen,

Verify whether you have Microsoft drivers or Dell ones. In my case, Windows always tried to overwrite drivers given, so I had to remove them manually.

Try to install initial driver from Dell (A01 if I remember correctly) and then the newest upgrade (A07).

Do not use the UpdateDriver feature from properties dialog. Unpack and run driver installer separately, as described on Dell web pages.

The newest driver (A07) can be found here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/type.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=LAT_PNT_PNT_D800&category=5&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=3122&devlib=5

I would however recommend that you uninstall (Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs) all drivers that you have and uninstall your devices as well as COM ports.

If you dont't have Microsoft drivers, after reboot you should see in device manager that unknown device is discovered under bluetooth section. Then install this:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/format.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=LAT_PNT_PNT_D800&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=3122&devlib=5&category=5&releaseid=R53708

and after the newest driver (described above).

Hope that will help.

A07 is not the latest driver, but the latest documentation.

A05 is the latest driver.

OK the problem has been resolved. Dell has replaced the bluetooth module and everything works fine again.

Thanks for all your help!
