Ghost 7.5 and the Intel Pro 1000

I am trying to create a DOS boot disk for Ghost 7.5 and I keep getting the error Unable to locate the NIC. I know the NIC is working because I had it on our LAN. I have used the latest drivers for the card. Anyone have any suggestions?

Make sure you are using the correct DOS NDIS 2 driver on your ghost disk. An updated NDIS 2 driver can be found at:

Actually, I downloaded it from the Europe site.

I had to do some tweaking on the disk but it works great now, thanks for the help!

Well, it may not like trying to transplant my settings to you, go to <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell> and pick GX260 for the system, Dos for the operating system and network drivers for the download type.

Hello

I am having problems creating a boot disk for the NIC Intel 1000 on a GX260. I have managed to obtain the driver which is something. However, I am wondering whether I need to specify an IOADDRESS or SLOT or something similar in the Protocol.ini?

If anyone has got this working would they so kind as to share their protocol.ini with me. It would be appreciated?

Thanks :)

Regards

Michele

I have a ghost disk that works but it takes 15 hours, or more, to do an image. has any one else had this problem? Any cure besides putting in another NIC card?

Thanks,

Rich

An extended download time like you describe is generally caused by a duplex mismatch.  For instance, if the Network switch you are connecting to is hard set to 100 full duplex, and you are leaving the nic driver in Auto, it will not detect the duplex settings correctly and your system will be running in 100 half while the switch is running at 100 full.

Try editing the protocol.ini on your boot disk and hard set it to 100 full.  I think the setting is speedduplex=3

Also make sure you are using the newest Intel Dos driver from http://support.dell.com/us/en/filelib/download/index.asp?fileid=r49017

I was wondering if you still have the files for the ghost disk. I am sorry to jump at the tale end of the message, but I would really appreciate your help

I'm having a similar problem trying to generate an image dump from a gx260 which has an Intel Pro MT/1000 NIC.  I just downloaded the DOS drivers for it, but to no avail.  It's possible they're outdated.  I would be extremely grateful if you would send me a copy of the drivers you obtained.

Thank You

You will need to copy the protocol.ini file from the driver to a:\NET then modify it so it will look like this

[protman]
drivername=PROTMAN$

[pktdrv]
drivername=PKTDRV$
bindings=nic
intvec=0x60
chainvec=0x66

[nic]
drivername = E1000$
