I am Having Home networking Troubles.

I have 2 desktops Both Dell, and 1 laptop a Compaq. I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. I have a cable modem. I have been told not to use the program that came with the router because ti was not very good. i was told to use windows networking configuration. I did this. i have internet connection on one desktop, and the laptop. They both have I.P. addresses. Icannot ping one to the other, but i can ping to the router through both. The 3rd comp has connection with the router but cannot find the internet. Does anyone have any ideas. The desktop that can't find the internet is configured with a Linksys WUSB54GC wireless connector. I am getting very frustrated with this.

For the pinging problem, make sure you have any firewalls running on the computers configured to allow local network access.

For the computer that can't connect to the internet, please provide more information.  Which model is it?  Which version of Windows is it running?  I assume that the computer is trying to connect by wireless.  If this ist the case, asa troubleshooting step, can that computer connect if it is wired to the router?  Has it ever been able to connect by wireless using this adapter?  Do you have any security enabled on the router (MAC Address Filtering/WEP/WPA encryption)?

It is a Dell Dimension 5100. Windows XP Media Edition. It was connected by wireless once before, and also by a wired connection. It does have wpa. I have a network card, an Linksys Pro/100 VE network card. It has a built into mother board 1394 connection. Plus it has a wan connection wireless. Are all of these conflicting with each other? If so what do i need to do to fix it?

I'm not suggesting there are any conflicts.  I am trying to get you to do some troubleshooting steps so we can figure out where the problem is.  I had asked you to see if you can get a conneciton on that computer if you try using a wired ethernet connection.  If you can't then it tells us it is a general Windows networking problem and we then can take steps to fix it.   If you can connect by a wired connection, but not a wireless connection, then it tells us that the problem is with the wireless side of things and we can then take steps to solve that.  All troubleshooting involves elimination of possibilities.  This is true whether you are troubleshooting a problem with a computer, a TV, a car, a kids toy, or a human body.

I just tried to reset my modem and my router on the computer without connection. it asked me to check network connection the wizard came back with this. Local host is reachable. No primary wins Server configured. No secondary Wins server configured. What does This Mean Or does it help?

Are you going to follow the troubleshooting steps I have suggested or go off on another route?   You say "it asked".  What are you referring to  (i.e. what is "it").

I am sorry but i am not that computer savvy. I did try to get a connection through the wired side. It didn't work. Like i said i tried to run the wizard to fix my connection, and i got the message that i told you about. No primary wins server fond. No secondary wins server found. I believe i tried what you asked it didn't work.
