Missing LAN driver?
I know there have been similar posts regarding my issue, but I have not been able to find a solution yet.
Here's my internet connection: modem to router (via ethernet), router to desktop (via ethernet). I should have a LAN connection. However, my desktop is on a wireless connection. Diving in further, I notice I do not even have a LAN connection available on the "Change Adapter Settings" screen (see attached photo).
How can I get my LAN connection back? I have tried to download different drivers, but to no avail. I am pretty computer illiterate, so please be simple with your response.
If it matters, I have a Dell XPS 8300 desktop. Thank you in advance!

There are no yellow marks. Under Network Adapters, it has two adapters:
DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card
Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter.
Another tidbit of info - When I hardwire the desktop to the modem, there is no internet connection. That would make sense (I think) since there appears to not be a driver. The internet only works when it is connected to the router.

Currently I'm not at home at the desktop, so I'm unable to try what you suggested until later tonight. But here's what I've come up with as a possible solution. When I go to the drivers/download page on Dell for my computer, here's what's listed under network:
To me, it makes sense that the second option down (Broadcom LAN driver) is what I need. But again, I'm pretty illiterate. So, I downloaded it, and get the following folder, unzipped:
There are just too many options! The download was simple, but what - given the previous picture - do I need to install? Or, am I completely off line here with what I need to do?

Well, I did that. Initially, I get an error message: "Microsoft SNMP service not detected must install for the advanced server sub agent to work properly." But then the installation continues... and is successful. But still no driver... it's frustrating. Is it possible that the ethernet just went bad on the motherboard, even though everything else on my computer is working fine?
