Studio Deskptop and Internet Connection

Just bought a new Studio desktop with Vista OS.  After setting everything up for the first time, this computer has a difficult time with an internet connection.  Everything is as slow as molasses.

We are using Time Warner Road Runner high speed internet.  No big deal there, it is just that I have a Dell XPS M140 notebook that connects perfectly online with the same cable modem and flies through websites without a problem.  The XPS has XP as the operating system.  Am I missing something with the Studio desktop? 

It seems to have the same effect with either IE or Firefox.  What else can I check with the Studio?
