WIRELESS INTERNET ISSUES!! PLEASEEE HELP!!

Question

HI, I am a college student that relies heavily on the internet.  Lately, my Dell Inspiron E1505 that runs on Windows Vista has been giving me internet issues.  I live in a small apartment and when I am sitting on my bed the internet works just fine.  However, when I put my computer on my desk which is literally just TWO STEPS away the wireless internet does not work.  It does still say I am connected to the network, however.  ALSO both of my roommate's computer's internet works just fine at my desk.  FURTHERMORE, the internet was working at my desk up until about a month ago so I know it's not an issue of being too far away from the internet box.  It even says I am connected to the internet with 4 or 5 signal bars but when I go to the internet browser, it says 'server not found.'  I am becoming increasingly frustrated because I would like to work at my desk.  I spent two hours on the phone with linksys that resulted in them telling me I had to call Dell.  Dell wanted to charge me $50 because my warranty had expired.  Also, I this may or may not be related but my computer keeps randomly shutting down for NO apparent reason.  This didn't start happening until about a month ago either.  ANY help on fixing this internet problem would be GREATLY appreciated!  Thanks! Tiffany

Have you tried re-installing the drivers for your wireless card? You can download them off the Dell website, if you don't have them on a disc.
