3040 micro, i5-7600
Will I be able to replace the i3-6100T processor with the i5-7600 in my OptiPlex 3040 MICRO, I have already updated the Bios to the latest version. There may be restrictions on the replacement of the processor, although the H110 chip of the motherboard supports 7 series processors.

Changing CPU to something other than what was shipped is not supported.
The 6100T is a low power 35W cpu.
Changing to 65W cpu is not likely to work correctly.
The chipset does not support 7th gen processors.
Also 7th gen processor requires 200 series chipset
The 3040 uses 100 Series chipset specifically H110

looking I agree that it might work.
Intel indicating compatibility 2 years later does not obligate Dell to update microcode in bios.
It also doesn't make a 65W or 95W processor work in a board designed for 35W CPU.
Dell supports what it was shipped with. End of story.

@speedstep Sorry about that. But 3040 micro does support 65W CPU. I put a i7 6700 on it with original 65W power adapter and it works great in 2026.
