7020 SFF Case Swap PSU and other queries
Good day, I've got an upgraded 7020 SFF that I recently case-swapped into an Antec 300.
Now that I've the space for a fullsize PSU, would a higher wattage unit from a larger form factor fit and work well? My only requirement is that it fits and works well really, but I'm also after more SATA power if I can. Running 2 drives off of a splitter cable is so stupid to me and I wouldn't mind being able to put more drives in. I know DELL is very proprietary so I didn't want to just order something, I'm also not terribly fond of running all the adapters for a PSU built elsewhere.
I also have to figure out how to power several case fans. I bought an adapter to use with the 5 pin connector as well as a 5 port 4 pin fan hub, but I'm not particularly fond of the idea of drawing all that power for 4+ case fans. I also rather like not having the "fan speed" error.
Specs (not that they matter, I just like to show off)
Intel Xeon E3-1246 v3 quad-core (H/T) @ 3.5-3.9GHz
MSI GT1030 O.C. to 1.9GHz
Corsair Vengeance 16GB @ 1600MHz
Thanks in advance!

if you do not want 24 to 8 pin adadter you can get a Dell oem psu for 7020/9020 MT or better still get a XE2 MT psu. 7020 sata power comes off motherboard sata power header. You can get a 7020 MT sata cable which has more sata connectors than the SFF.

Perfect, that pretty much answered both of my questions. I can power the fans using a SATA powered hub. Thanks alot. I'm not familiar with the fullsize towers so I wasn't even aware those existed.

You might try using a cable like that, that plugs into a SATA power outlet instead of the motherboard.

that is too bad that Dell makes a different socket for tower and sff board side sata power connector.

looks like the MT cable CR9TD has a 5 pin minisata on board side, whereas the SFF cable 7GYGG has a 6 pin minisata.

@redxps630 the MT plug itself is larger than the SFF's plug. I was considering repinning the two plugs to make it work but unsure of the procedure with Dell connectors I decided not to.
Unsure where to go from here. Nowhere else to really draw power for anything. Im assuming my only additional storage option is an NVME and pcie card.

Dell’s user unfriendly trick goes deeper by one more level. I did not know there are two different sizes of mini-sata connectors. I have not had a chance to tear down a modern opti mt yet (all my recent opti are SFF).
I think your feasible options now include using sata splitters from Dell readily offered for sff. This will you up to 4 sata power connectors if the had/add are stacked close together, as the splitter are short cabled.
