Advice Needed: GPU Installation for Dell Optiplex 3080 SFF
I am requesting compatibility advice before GPU upgrade in my Dell Optiplex 3080 SFF. My goal is to install a dedicated graphics card, with 8 to 16 GB, however, I would like to confirm my system constraints.
System Details:
Model: Optiplex 3080 Small Form Factor (SFF)
CPU: Intel Core i5-10500 (65W TDP)
Chipset: Intel B460
PSU: 200W (3.2A)
Given the 200W system power supply, I understand my options are extremely limited. I need guidance on the Maximum Allowable GPU Power (TDP), with the i5-10500 and system baseline draw, what is the maximum wattage Dell advises for an add-in GPU in this configuration? Is a 30W, 50W, or 75W (PCIe slot-only) card?
I am aware that a standard 8-16GB GPU typically requires 100W-200W and an external power connector, which I believe my PSU cannot support. I need to know what is actually possible in my system. I was thinking of a NVIDIA RTX 3060 of 12 GB. What are your thoughts?
Are there any BIOS updates required for GPU support, and what are the exact maximum card dimensions (L x H x W) for the SFF chassis?
Thank you for your technical guidance.
Nuno
