CPU upgrade for optiplex 3040 SFF
OptiPlex 3040 Small Form Factor
Hello,
I my CPU i5-6500 is bottle necking so I want to upgrade my CPU I found out that i7 6th gen or 7th gen is the max but that was just a little bit better then my current CPU and it was much expensive in my country, Then I did a deep research to find a CPU that is LGA-1151 6-7 gen and supports DDR3L then I found about these Xeon CPUs like E3 1280-v5 that supports same motherboard type and also supports DDR3L I just wanna know that the OEM optiplex 3040 sff mother board supports all CPU under its type.
Regards

this model can only support Intel 6th gen cpu. although the socket is LGA1151 which is used for Intel 6-9th gen, the motherboard chipset and bios only support 6th gen
there is no user validated evidence that this model supports any Xeon cpu

With your limited resource and the product availability in your region, I suggest to use your system as is. Save up for a complete and newer system of your preference instead.

From another thread I answered you in: By the way, the 3040 is limited to 6th gen CPU's. I7-6700 is tops according to userbenchmark.
