Dell Optiplex 3040
Dell Optiplex 3040 SSD and M.2 PCIe upgrade to 512GB?
Good day
Dell Community
I wanted to ask is it possible to install 512GB SSD/ M.2 PCIe SSD.
I was also thinking, can I run Windows 11 boot from an M.2 PCIe SSD?
I also wanted to install a 4 port NVMe to PCI-e host controller expansion card and is it possible to boot Windows 11 from this or are these drives only recognised as additional drives via PCI 3.0?

None of the 3040 form factors has an M.2 slot. The tower has a wireless M.2 slot which is meant for only a wireless card. As for booting from an M.2 SSD on an expansion card, I believe that would not work.

Not sure but it's worth a try. Keep in mind that you probably will not be able to boot from a drive on that card. And hopefully I was of some help.
