The 6/21/2006 is the only driver.

You can try an "in place repair" and see if that fixes it.

Here is the instructions from the 11 Forum:

First, the only drivers for Optical drives (CD/DVD) is the default built in Windows driver.  There are no separate drivers.  As this apparently happened in the Win 11 upgrade it suggests a corrupt upgrade.  If you are in the period that allows falling back to Win 10 I would do it and do a new Win 11 upgrade as first step.

Fireberd, thanks for responding.  Unfortunately I'm past the possibility of a rollback to Windows 10.  I've tried to upload screen grabs of details but that function always seems to fail on this community site.  You are correct that there are no DVD manufacturer drivers involved.  It appears to be a Microsoft driver, version 10.0.22621.1, dated 6/21/2006, located at C:\Windows\system32\drivers\cdrom.sys.  That's a pretty old driver and I've been unable to find anything newer from MS.  I recognize that for most users DVD Optical disks are obsolete but I have many music CDs and Program/Data DVDs that I do still use so this is a significant problem for me.  I waited 3 years for 11 to mature and finally decided to migrate to 11.  I'm regretting that decision at this point.  I can't believe that I'm the only one dealing with this issue so I keep hoping someone knows a fix.  I've seen several other tickets reporting similar issues with other Windows functions/drivers after an upgrade to 11 so I know I'm not alone in this.

@fireberd Your suggestion to try a repair installation was the solution.  I was trying to find something quicker but nothing worked until the repair install.  Thanks so much!
