Geforce GT 730, Optiplex 9010 problems
I have a Geforce GT 730, 4GB of DDR3 memory. It has this metal piece on the front of it that doesn't allow it to fit into the white or the blue slot and i took the VGA Support off so it would fit into the black slot. Will that work or does it need to be in the blue or white slot ?

The blue slot is the only x 16 slot and the video card should be installed there. The black slot is a x 4 slot. And the white slot should not be used at all and the GPU may not fit in that slot anyway. Will the card work in the black slot, yes but at reduced bandwidth. The blue slot has 4 x the bandwidth of the black slot.

JOcean is spot on regarding blue vs black slot.
9010 tech guide
9010 MT/DT motherboard pic
the guide shows
blue physical x16 slot is wired x16, therefore reserved for PCIe video card
black physical x16 slot is wired x4, which can in practice support PCIe video card too at what JOcean said 1/4 of bandwidth of blue slot. It is not optimal, but in practice not as bad as 25% speed of blue slot because a video card installed in the blue slot may not use all 16 lane bandwidth any way.
the white slot is old pci and not PCIe therefore it would not physically fit a PCIe video card
finally the short black slot is closed end PCIe x1 which can support Wi-Fi card or sata/SSD add in PCIe x1 card.
When OP said the metal piece on the front of it prevents video card install in blue slot, is it the full height metal bracket that prevents install in a 9010DT?
