Need Help..

Dear All

Our Institute bought (10 + 50) new Dell computers in April 2022 in Pakistan from a vendor/supplier.

Due to some reasons, when we checked the service tag on the Dell Support site, found the following results.

  1. For OptiPlex 7090 Tower, it shows a shipping/start date of Aug 26, 2021, expiry date of Sep 1, 2022, and sold location in the United Arab Emirates.
  2. For P2217H monitor, it shows a shipping/start date of Mar 25, 2019, expiry date of Mar 25, 2022, and sold location in the United States.
  3. For OptiPlex 3080 Tower, it shows a shipping/start date of Oct 17, 2021, expiry date of Nov 25, 2022, and sold location in the United Arab Emirates.

My questions are:

Kindly explain the status of the computers and whether these systems were considered new in April 2022 or not. Some of the service tags of the computers are

  • OptiPlex7090:  non-public info were removed
  • OptiPlex3080:  non-public info were removed

Kindly explain the ship date and expiry date. Does the Ship date mean computers are shipped/sold to the end-user or some Dell Partner stockholder/retailer, or it represents the manufacturing date? (As per my knowledge/experience ship/start date should be the date when a computer is expected to be used by an individual/organization.)

An expedited and detailed answer will be highly appreciated. It will help us to settle down the current issue and for future procurement. As I am planning to buy 120+ new Dell Computers for AI/Data Science labs.

Dell UAE Please let me know how to contact you via email to provide details.

Best Regards

You'll still need to contact Dell UAE.  Meanwhile, I can add a little info:

Dell monitor is from 2017.  In the model #, P = Professional, next 2 digits = inches, last 2 digits = last 2 digits of year manufactured.

Below chart shows when models were introduced.  To hopefully avoid any confusion, the "7010" model name was reintroduced in 2023.  It first came out in 2012.

5080 & 5090 came out same years as 3080 and 7090 respectively as far as I know.
