Optiplex 3070 dual monitors?
I have a couple Optiplex 3070 SFF desktops that I'm trying to get dual monitors working. It has HDMI and DP on the back, but whichever one is plugged into a monitor will become the only active one during boot up. If both are plugged in, only one of them works. I've contacted Dell and they've said it does support two displays. I've even tried adding another video card that had DVI and DP but I had some flickering issues. I'm not sure but I think the flickering may be the small power supply? One of these desktops is also running another add-on card using power. Has anyone done this successfully either with the built-in video or an add-on card?

Boot up uses only the main monitor. After booting Windows should see the second monitor if the correct cables and ports are used--no wrong converter cables such as hdmi to vga. Explain what ports are available on the monitors. Also if you have a video card installed the integrated video will not work. Remove the separate card to use the integrated video.

So I've thought of another way, daisy-chaining the built-in DisplayPort. I tried a P2719HC Dell 27" monitor with a 1.2 DP output going to another monitor using it as a DP input.
I updated the drivers on the PC for the graphics card and the monitors and now I can see both the 27" and the second monitor in device manager under Monitors. However, I never get any video. Any idea why that would be?

Hey Brian Z,
What did you do regarding Mary's response? She is correct.
Take the 3070 with no graphics card. What CPU is in this 3070? It probably has an Intel iGPU, which is a GPU based on the cpu chip. It will use the onboard hdmi and displayport ports located on the motherboard.
Make sure the monitors are plugged into those onboard ports. Have you done this?
BIOS up to date?
So you have Windows 10 Pro installed I would imagine? And the Intel display drivers are up to date?

I am not a fan of daisy chaining displayports, but it can work. I am not sure of Intel's support of this feature. So if you see both displays in device manager, what do you see when you right click the desktop and go to Display Settings?
Also, does this daisy chain/ pass through feature need to be enabled in the monitor's on screen display?

I was able to connect two monitors to the optiplex 3070. 1) the first monitor is connected using DP-> DP (DisplayPort) 2) the second monitor is connected using. adapter hdmi - dvi. at first the computer also did not see the second monitor, but then I first connected the monitor via hdmi, he saw it, and then connected DP.

Try this.
F2 on boot to go into bios.
Disable Secure Boot
Enable Legacy Option Roms and apply settings.
