OptiPlex 755 will not boot

Hello!

My DELL OptiPlex 755 will not boot. It will not boot in Safe Mode, and any system attempts at repair fail. Any suggestions at how to repair are welcome.

The diagnostics are indicating a memory error. When it failed the memory test, did you click on yes to continue testing? If so, were there any other error messages?

First of all, try removing, then re-seating the memory module(s) and see if that makes any difference. If not, if you have more than one memory module, try testing with just one module at a time.

Removal instructions here:

Let us know how you get on

I removed all of the memory cards from the motherboard slots, made sure the slots were clean, then re-inserted them. This was the key! The PC now booted up, and I could run Windows 7 system repair. It works great now. Thank you for the link to the tech articles too.

Best Regards,

Glenn

Replace physically bad hard drive and reinstall from scratch.

There are no soft fixes for physically bad drives.

OK, thanks for the reply. Will Windows 10 have all of the drivers I will need to bring this PC back to life? If not, what are your recommendations?

Windows 10 works fine on these models.  You will want at least 4 gigs or more of ram however. Most of the Drivers are Native to windows 10 but the INTEL AMT HECI SOL Drivers as well as the OEM Audio drivers will have to use Vista or Windows 7 versions of the drivers as they never came with 8 or 10 drivers and never will.

Thank you for your advice and the links to the drivers. I will use this when I upgrade the OS to Windows 10.
