Wake on LAN issues
I just swapped an Optiplex 7070 with a newer 7000 unit. WoL worked perfect with the 7070 but not with the 7000.
In Windows 11 24H2, I've gone through the power settings and I have turned off any power saving features. I've done the same for the NIC settings. I've also turned off deep sleep in the BIOS and made sure WoL is enabled.
WoL is working but not as expected. I have to send multiple wake packets to the unit when I want to wake it, manually; sometimes six times before it finally wakes.
I have two tasks in the Task Scheduler. Each one has the "Wake the computer..." checkbox ticked. One set at 12:23 AM and the other at 12:25 AM but I noticed that the tasks are running at 3:00 AM which makes no sense.
Power plan settings:

NIC settings:

There is no power management tab on the NIC properties, in the Device Manager, like you have with older versions of Windows 11.
The fact that the 12:30ish tasks are running at 3:00 AM is very puzzling. I haven't added any tasks that run at 3:00 AM.
Fast Start Up is not even an option so it is disabled:

What's up with the web dev's? I have to enter two captchas (sometimes three) and enter a PIN that was emailed just to login to the community? That's overkill.
Anyway, it seems you can edit a post only a few minutes after it's creation so I had to add this post just to add the fact that I also have ASPM and Intel Speed Shift disabled in the BIOS.
Intel Speed Step and CPU C-state are enabled in the BIOS.

Also, I have the power settings set to turn off the monitor after 15 minutes and to go to sleep after 60 minutes but I have to enter my password to "wake" the PC just to get the monitor to come back on even though I'm no where near the 60 minute mark.

Sorry, not sure what's going on with the Wake on LAN issue. Would a different Ethernet card help?
What I can tell you is if you don't want to enter a password when waking the monitor, go into screensaver and uncheck the option to enter password (probably in advanced options).

@bradthetechnut Doing as you suggested also removes password requirement when waking from sleep. Unfortunately, it appears Modern Standby will treat sleep and display off the same.
It's a micro computer. Can't try another NIC except for USB and I'm not going that route.

@Simogiax - I don't think there is a solution. I spent hours trying a lot of different drivers and all manner of settings. Moreover, the energy savings between sleep vs idle with monitor off isn't all that different anyway when dealing with a handful of computers.
WOL has always been hit or miss and often times, a pain in the butt to find the right driver/settings combo to get it working. Even then, you may find that you can wake it from cold boot but not sleep or vice-versa and now with Modern Standby... If it doesn't work just by changing the driver settings, I won't waste anymore time on it.
I have a few scheduled tasks that needed to wake this computer. Since switching from sleep to just auto turning off the display and auto-locking the computer, my life is simpler :-)
