Dell R730XD RED097: Unable to complete the firmware update

Hello!

I have a Dell R730XD with all the firmware up to date as of today, November 8, 2024. I've used the iDrac "Update and Rollback" option, selected HTTPS, and used downloads.dell.com to install everything.

However, there's a pending update for the network interface that shows this error:

RED097: Unable to complete the firmware update operation because the specified firmware image is for a component that is not in the target system inventory.

Also, the current version is higher than the repository version. How did this even happen?

I'm using a bare-metal installation of TrueNAS Scale.

Thanks for any info!

Bluepr0,

The reason you are seeing this is that the catalog is released generally every quarter, where specific updates are released more frequently. So what has occurred is that the device was updated to version that has yet to be put into the catalog, which is presenting the newest version it has but may not be the most recent version of the specific devices update.

So when the next catalog is released it should be reflected accurately.

Let me know if this helps.
