PowerEdge T430 Power consumption
Hello,
i have a PowerEdge T430 that is now only used as backup storage, and i'm trying to reduce it's energy consumption to it's minimum possible.
I'm trying to change most settings on a "energy efficient" basis and still at 110w and i'm pretty sure that it can still go lower.
also took off the 2nd cpu, but lost usage of two pcie lanes that are needed, so i need to put it back and energy usage will go back to 150w idle.
Any tips on the most energy efficient settings ?
Thank's !

Hi,
I might need to inform, that usually servers are meant to be used throughout the day, and it is considered to be used in data centers. Hence, some power settings for lower consumption might not meet your expectations as most hardware in the servers draw more power.
Here's an article on the hardware's capability and power consumption, probably if not needed, you can turn them off: https://dell.to/3TZrnw0
You can also turn off C1E and C State if you do not need it, but I am unsure if this will significantly improve consumption: https://dell.to/4gS4Vi5
There isn't a specfic way to turn off and on the host on specific hour. Usually this is controlled by the OS. Hardware wise, there isn't such setting. Unless maybe through a UPS, but that's only my thoughts, I do not have any recommendation of any UPS model. Perhaps contacting the nearest reseller can help you understand if it can help your requirement.

Hello thanks for choosing Dell and welcome to our community.
In this case I'd suggest
1. Change the disks to SSD. (if you are using things like SAS spin disk)
2. Remove the card(s) that are being not used at the moment
SSD takes up less power consumption.

@DELL-Young E Hello and thank you for your reply.
i actually have 4x4tb sata 7'200 hdd's, high capacity ssd's are still pretty expensive, i'll keep that in mind for a future change.
Tried to set BIOS/DRAC settings to reduce energy usage, but i don't recognize some of them, is there any sheet that would help with energy usage questions ?
Also, i assume that both CPU's must be the same, is it correct ?
Thank's.

Also, i could not find how to turn on host in a specified hour plan. I wanted to plan a shutdown on host every night, but can't turn on next day (only required 12h per day).
