R750 SL Cable CTRL_DST_SA1 config error

Have this R750 8x2.5" NVME server which has been giving a config error regarding the CTRL_DST_SA1 connector. I cannot seem to find this connector anywhere on the system. That connector appears in the R550 and R760 installation guides but not in the R750. I have swapped out front PERCs, backplanes, and risers but the error remains. Bringing system to minimum specs did not resolve issue. Any insight into this issue would be great. Don't really want to accept current config via F2 if this issue can be resolved.

Resetting the Lifecycle Controller didn't help. However, I swapped the installed riser 1 (23FGY) with another riser 1 (2XTTT) and the error changed to a "Riser 4 config error". Swapping the installed riser 4 (WTHD0) with Riser 4 (RK04H) finally solved the error. This leads to another question, does having a water cooled R750 require certain risers?

Hello TheMattHatter,

Was this working and now it is not?

If so was there anything done on the server around the time it started?

Can you let us know the configuration you have?

If you have an image of the error you can post that also.

The current configuration matches figure 73 (8x2.5" NVME) with H750 fPERC. All cables are present and match the config illustration. The system was brought in for testing and had a liquid cooling installed, I removed it and added heat sinks, swapped the iDrac board in order to test without liquid cooling attached. However, the system continues to throw the config error. On figure 73, the closest connector that matches my error is CTRL_DST_PA1 which connects to the fPERC but my error is for cable CTRL_DST_SA1 which doesn't appear on the manual. Very confusing error.

Hello TheMattHatter,

The Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) solution is not offered as an After Point of Sale (APOS) kit. Liquid cooling hardware, settings cannot be added as an upgrade post purchase.

Hopefully you have found a solution by now, but I had this problem and found the cables for the BOSS S2 module were reversed. Both the power and signal cables have lables for BOSS and MB and that end needs to be at the respective device. If they're reversed most things still operate, but booting from the BOSS card requires manual intervention / or changing boot location in iDRAC remote console - "Normal Boot" does not work.

The CTRL_DST_SA1 config error on the Dell PowerEdge R750 SL server is caused by a missing or incorrectly connected cable. The CTRL_DST_SA1 cable is responsible for connecting the SATA controller to the storage backplane. If this cable is missing or not connected properly, the server will not be able to boot and will display the CTRL_DST_SA1 config error camera hop truc tuyen.

To fix the CTRL_DST_SA1 config error, you will need to check the following:

  1. Make sure that the CTRL_DST_SA1 cable is properly connected to the SATA controller and the storage backplane.
  2. If the cable is properly connected, try reseating it.
  3. If the cable is still not connecting properly, you may need to replace it.

Here are the steps on how to check the CTRL_DST_SA1 cable:

  1. Locate the CTRL_DST_SA1 cable on the server. It is a short, black cable with a SATA connector on one end and a SAS connector on the other end.
  2. Check the SATA connector on the end of the cable. It should be properly seated in the SATA port on the SATA controller.
  3. Check the SAS connector on the end of the cable. It should be properly seated in the SAS port on the storage backplane.

If you have checked the CTRL_DST_SA1 cable and it is still not connecting properly, you may need to replace it. You can purchase a replacement cable from Dell or a third-party vendor.

Once you have replaced the CTRL_DST_SA1 cable, you should be able to boot the server without the CTRL_DST_SA1 config error.

Here are some additional tips for troubleshooting the CTRL_DST_SA1 config error:

  • Make sure that the SATA controller and the storage backplane are properly seated in the server.
  • Check the power connections to the SATA controller and the storage backplane.
  • If you have recently added any new hardware to the server, try removing it to see if that resolves the issue.

If you have followed all of these steps and the CTRL_DST_SA1 config error is still occurring, you may need to contact Dell support for further assistance.
