RAID SETUP

Hi, i am kinda new in the IT business. I got a hardtime to configure the RAID. I had a poweredge server with 6 drives on it. I'd like to setup 2 drives as RAID 1 and rest as 5. Could anyone have a step by step instruction for configure it on the PERC controller console or (CTRL+M). I am much appreciated it.

Thanks,

I can assist you. First tho... What is the model of the PERC controller?  Next, there is absolutley nothing on the drives data wise that you need, correct? Because the data on the drives will more or less be wiped clean when we set this up.

As you know hot to get to the PERC BIOS it's easier.

From the Management Menu, select Configure
Then New Configuration
On the menu you will see all HDD detected in the server in ' Ready' status
Select the first two HDDs using the space bar, if you did it right you will see the status went to a blinking Online A00-00 and Online A00-01, if it's for the 1st two arrays in this controller.
Then press < enter>to confirm selection and then < F10> Key
Hit < space bar>, then < F10> key
Select the RAID level you want, probably RAID 1 and get down to accept.
Confirm selection and enjoy. To do the RAID 5 proceed the same with the only diference make sure you select all 3 HDD using space bar, then the RAID 5 option will be available for you.
