Resetting DELL FX2 chassis CMC and config data

Hi,

I got the steps to reset the FX2 CMC password from www.dell.com/.../resetting-forgotten-administrator-password

Question: Will it only reset the password and not effect any configuration?

Thank you.

I take that back, it does work as expected. just need to the be on the secure vlan that is allow access to idrac's.

BTW - I have found Dell techs to be some of the best i've worked with in my career.

same issue of finding a jumper, however, when I did and followed the procedure it did not work. So, any helpful hints on why it didn't work would help me out

So, I think need reset to factory settings DELL CHASSIS MANAGEMENT CONTROLLER MODULE CMC FOR DELL POWEREDGE FX2S.

Please help me.

Thank so much,

Hello @Hailtu,

Please, check this article: Dell FX2 - How to set IP Address for the CMC?

You have a bunch of options for setting back the IP to what you need.

Regards.

Dear Diego Lopez,

Thanks for help.

I've solved it with: Set the CMC IP address via the Sled HII

Hello,

Please suggest how to reset the DELL FX2 chassis CMC both IP and root password. The chassis powered off for a few years back with no configuration recorded.

Hi, in addition, you can also refer to this for password reset;

To reset the password on the FX2 CMC, follow the steps below:

  1. Uncable and remove the CMC from the FX2 chassis
  2. Install a jumper onto the password jumper, see figure below:
    1. #8651917 uploaded 1.jpg
  3. Install the CMC back into the stomp chassis and reconnect the cables that were previously removed.
  4. Once the CMC is back online, log into the CMC (with the default credentials) and perform any administration functions that are needed.
    1. Please remember to change the root password before logging out of the CMC.
  5. Uncable and remove the CMC from the FX2 Chassis.
  6. Remove the jumper from the password jumper.
  7. Reinstall the CMC back into the chassis.

Hope this will helps!
