R730 INTERNAL STORAGE ENCLOSURE 4 BAY KIT does not fit
My 2 Dell CPU Heatsink Low Profile arrived today.
After replacing the heatsinks I wanted to replace the
Dell - 4FHR4 - R730 INTERNAL STORAGE ENCLOSURE 4 BAY KIT
into my DELL r730
But it does not fit.
I have watched the installation video from Dell here the 4FHR4 fits into the 730xd without any problems
for my r730 <Private data removed from public view. DELL-Admin>
1. a little too wide
2. if i push it in a bit, it hooks into the lugs but i can't get the lid closed. Because the kit protrudes 5mm.
Here are the attached pictures.

The kit from you should be compatible for r730 and r730xd, right?
sorry for my bad english

Hello Mate all the models have different builds although the hardware support you are trying it hard means it will not be able to install in the server, you need yo look for a wayaround for that.

Hi,
Considering that there could be different configurations, I agree with what Praveen said. And I just check the your part number 4FHR4 but I can't see it on my system. While I have checking the Bay for R730, only the below backplane part number appears on my system. I can't see 4X3.5" bay kit. But I only control the technical parts systems so I don't know about the sales department.

I have already received the r730xd server today.
But the kit doesn't fit there either.... I don't understand it
the lugs where the kit is attached look exactly the same to me. When I insert the kit, it protrudes at least 6mm.
I have taken pictures of it again.

i have read elsewhere that the 4X3.5” bay kit
only fits in lff 730xd and not in SFF 730xd
can this be possible?

Hello,
As you have found out, not everything that can be used on an R730 will work on R730xd and vice versa.
Example:
R730xd does not support internal or external GPUs, the R730 will Pg. 22
R730xd supports mid tray, R730 does not . Pg 28
The R730 and R730xd are available in hot-plug backplane options listed in Table 13. Note that the backplane option must be selected at point of purchase and cannot be changed or upgraded later.
https://dell.to/3TynqOE
The Mid tray X4 (3.5" HDD) is only available on 3.5" (x12) R730xd systems
CPU 1.2U heat sink is used only in the R730XD 3.5” systems with middle drive backplane/tray
I hope this helps. If you have further request please let us know. Also please post your images in the forum thread because we cannot access external file hosting. Try not to make them very large and may try .png format.
This appears to be the chassis part number.
Please check with Sales in your region. It may not be available as I did not find it on the Dell web site.
PN# 350-BBEX - Chassis up to 12+4Int,3.5HD,and 2,2.5FB
