Trying to Add PERC H755 to R6525
We purchased a 10 bay R6525 Server from the Outlet, which came with a Boss-S2 Controller. My mistake for overlooking this important part.
We would like to configure RAID-10 for the storage so we purchased a Perc H755 Raid Controller, along with the tray mount and battery holder.
After examining the cable routing it seems that the current setup is figure 10 from the below support manual.
Would changing the cable routing to figure 9 work for installing the Perc H755?
If we can get the part number for the cables that would be great.
Thank you.

Hello,
Field change of backplane configuration is not generally supported.
As you can tell there are not kits for doing that.
I can try to find some information for you.
What is the H755 DP/N part number you have from the sticker on the controller?

Judging from your image, as you stated, you seem to have figure 10, the 10x2.5 inch nvme backplane in 48 mode. But from the Upgrade Kits page, it shows you can convert sas/sata to (6) sas/sata +4 nvme. I have a 6525 here, but its not nvme capable. It has an HBA355i, which uses the same connectors as the H755. On my system, it has cables F7WXD and HVHH3 connected to the HBA355i. So I'm guessing these are the cables you need. But note, I'm not 100% sure this is applicable to your specific system, I'm going off observation of other similar systems. The config will become like Figure 9 in your link. if it works like other similar Dell servers, all 10 bays will be sas/sata capable and the last 4 will also be nvme cable. You didnt mention in your post if you also purchased the Perc battery, you will need that.

Hi,
Thank you for the reply.
The part number for the H755 Controller is 3KDWX.
We also have the Perc Battery connected, but the battery holder didn't come with the rectangular box that you put on the battery, so if there is a part number I'd like to know that one also.
If you have any information or advise on what to watch out for, that would be great.
Thank you again.

The battery holder is JM7F5 and you will need the 4 screws as well.
Did you get J6YRT, that is what the H755 mounts to.
you will not need 5Y1HD, that is for the rear drives, not the front.
I dont think you need NCF62 as you already have the H755.

Hi
Thank you very much for the info.
We purchased J6RYT and JM7F5, but it didn't come with the rectangular box in the middle.
If there is a separate part number for this, we'd like to purchase that.
As for the cables, we are looking to purchase and test F7WXD and HVHH3 to see if it works.
If there is anything to look out for or any other advice, we'd like to know that too.
Thank you again for all the support!

The rectangular box is JM7F5, which also holds the battery in place.

We purchased the two cables and started to reconnect the existing ones, but it looks like the existing cable that became availabe was not fit for connecting DST_PA3 to SL 4, so we'll need to purchase this one also.
Would someone be able to let me know what part number this is?
(Figure 9 from https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/ja-jp/poweredge-r6525/r6525_ism_pub/cable-routing?guid=guid-6d8f3db6-605e-4cd1-b13c-baf76a1c5acd&lang=en-us)
Thank you for all the support.

And it looks like we'll need another cable for DST_PB2 to SL2 also, so if we can get this part number too that would be great.
Thanks again.

For testing purpose, we connected the cables (with a little bending) and checked the settings to see if all the drives are connected.
We were able to detect drive 5,6,7,8, but drive 1,2,3,4 were missing.
Would someone be able to let us know what could cause this?

Sorry for the consecutive posts, but we tried removing SL 2 to see what happens, and it turns out that only 2 drives are now available.
So I guess we'll need to connect all SL ports, but now the question is, can we just purchase cables connecting SL 1 + SL 3 and SL 2 + SL 4 like in Figure 8? Or should we keep the cables as-is in Figure 10 and connect the PERC controller to DST_SA_2 and SL 8?

Hello, please correct me if I’m wrong,
so I read the part you are using now is
Figure 10. 10 x 2.5-inch NVMe backplane (48 mode) from this guide (https://dell.to/4cMI7Nx)
But you want to change to
Figure 9. 10 x 2.5-inch Universal backplane
This one?
I don’t think you can work on that. It’s a different part.
Part #:6JYXW
Part Desc.:ASSY,CRD,BKPLN,1U,10X2.5,V2
Let us know if you have any further questions.
Respectfully,

Hi,
Thank you very much for the advice; we'll try getting Part #:6JYXW to see if that works.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find the part number for the backplane from our Dell Outlet Part List.
I will report back after we test this.

Unfortunately, it seems that the backplane was identical to the one we had.
We switched it anyway and tested it, but the results were the same.
Is there any other advice on what we should do?
Thank you for all the support.
