Can't expand disk group on ME412 enclosure

I had two disks that apparently stopped being part of a disk group. When I tried to add them back, it fails.

I've tried replacing with brand new drives and still does not work. The drives show health as OK and both available.

What's causing them not to be added to their disk group? This enclosure is controlled by an ME4012.

@DELL-Joey C

Thank you for suggesting contacting Support. I did and after much troubleshooting from their end, they had me run a command from the CLI.

# set advanced-settings slot-affinity disabled

Once I ran that, the drives automatically joined the disk group and it began rebalancing.

Hi,

This could be a firmware issue that is exposed in the ME4 RAID Controller and the different firmware version in current and new disk.

My suggestion is to contact the support to raise a case to check on the ME4 logs to identify the firmware level. I may also advise if you have not done data back up, I would suggest doing so.
