6700 Precision microphone 🎤 jack not working.

Hello: Have a precision 6700 laptop and a 6800 laptop. I am using a "2 ring" microphone jack plug.

This works on the 6800 microphone jack input, but will not work on the 6700 microphone jack imput. Does the 6700 and 6800 have the same type of input jack for "2 ring" microphones or is there possibly a "one ring" or "three ring" type plug these use ?

I have checked all the settings on both computers. They are both the same under sound and such.
