Dell Precision 7510 and external 2K Dell monitor?

I want to connect my old Dell Precision 7510 (Nvidia Q M2000M) laptop to a new external Dell 2K display (Dell G2724D, 2560x1440, 2K QHD), but I'm unsure if it will work. I need a 2K resolution with at least a 60Hz refresh rate. I don't have a dock station so I will use an HDMI cable or a DP cable with a DP-to-mini DP adapter directly to the laptop.

Yes, you can connect your 7510 to an external Dell monitor via HDMI or mini DP to DisplayPort cable.  The Quadro M2000M is capable of 4K resolution, therefore, you should achieve your desire resolutions at 60Hz.

Suggestion, for a full 4K desktop setup, you can add a Dell PRO3X E-Port for docking the 7510 when needed.  It's can be cheaply sourced with up to 240w power supply.  Besides having an extra charger, you can power on and operate with the closed laptop lid and it will be charging your laptop during use as well.
