Precision M6600 MXM GPU Upgrade: Driver Crash to Basic Display Adapter during 3D gaming (WWE 2K17)
Hi everyone,
I am running an upgraded Dell Precision M6600 laptop. I have replaced the stock graphics card with an NVIDIA Quadro M6000 core via the MXM 3.0b slot.
The laptop works fine during regular desktop tasks, but the moment I launch a 3D game like WWE 2K17, the graphics subsystem crashes entirely. I receive the persistent error notification: "Display driver failed to start; using Microsoft Basic Display Driver instead."
Has anyone stabilized a high-TDP Quadro card in an older Precision chassis? Do I need to use custom modified .inf driver files, flash a specific vBIOS, or change the Optimus switchable graphics settings in the BIOS to bypass the Intel integrated controller?
Any help from MXM upgrade enthusiasts would be appreciated! Tha
nk you.
