3100cn restart printer error

Hi, I have only had my 3100cn for a short while. I just installed an HP 5110xi all in one fax/printer combo and as soon as I did that, I got the restart error on my laser. I tried setting the default back to my dell, but I cannot clear the restart error or access the menu on the printer.

Please help!

I called Dell. They had me turn off the printer, and remove the drum cartridge from the top of the printer. And to stand it up with the blue roller up and facing me. I then had to turn the blue roller on the very edges, so my fingers did not touch until a silver box showed up in the window (where the foam was) on the bottom right. I put i back in, started it back up and it worked.

flipping the drum cartridge over only works for 004-321 errors.

There are some other restart printer errors that can be caused by the print jobs you send down to the printer, specifically 016-302 errors. The best I can advise in that case is to modify the print job so the PCL or PS being sent to the pritner no longer causes the 016-302 error.

In truth though, the best thing to do for these errors is call into support.

I gotta say that worked for my 302 problem also....at least so far.  But first, remove any LAN/USB cable and cancel any print jobs. I had to remove the top cover to easily rotate the "rubber" belt until I saw the silver square appear near the foam "window"...actually a cutout.

Since I heard that some documents may cause this, I would not try printing the same document again!  I have had similar "crash and burn" documents that affected my HP inkjet also....I guess it is a common problem.

Now the question is...did performing the rotation work...or did just canceling the job work?  I don't know and I am not about to try it again.

What is the solution for 004-324 Error? Printer is in room temp environment, that's the reason Dell gives.
