Outlook XP on Windows Vista

Hi Folks,

 

There are several new parameters that could cause the problem that I am currently having and I am hoping that somebody here will be able to point me in the right direction. I have just purchased a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop for one of our employees who is on the road alot. However, she also spends a considerable amount of time in the office.

 

The laptop has Vista installed and I installed MS Office XP. I have managed to install Office XP on a latitude laptop running Vista without any problems so for that reason I think the fact that it is a Inspiron might be the cause of my problems.

 

The laptop is connected to our LAN via the ethernet connection on the back of the laptop. Normal network activity is fine - Internet access, accesing network drives, etc. However, when I try to access the users email account (MS Exchange) through Outlook that is when the problems really start. When I open Outlook I immediately get a message telling me that "A program is trying to access email addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this". If I say yes, Outlook will kind of work but very slowly. If I say no (for about 50 times) Outlook will eventually crash out.

 

I can access Outlook Web Access easily and it is very quick. Any ideas??? I did initially have this user set up with a remote profile but have deleted that and have since uninstalled and reinstalled Office.
