PowerEdge server's End of Life and End of Support Life

Hi, I tried to search "End of Service Life date" for a poweredge servers but not show anything. I hope anyone can help me please.

There isn't any documented information for End of Life and End of Support Life on PowerEdge servers. Usually they have about 5-7 years of support life, depending on the availability of hardware. Alternatively you can check each of the server's support capability in the support site: https://dell.to/3P6FEVF. Enter the service tag of the server, go to the service event tab, uncheck the toggle button on "Only show active events" and you will be able to view the End of Service Life date. That is the only available information available for view.

@DELL-Charles R​ Is the 5-7 year lifcyle support documented anywher but in this thread?  We have customers ask us all the time how long support lasts but we don't have written configumation of the true lifecycle of a Dell server past the end-of-sale date.  Thanks

It is based off of the warranty.

 

Dell Limited Hardware Warranty

90-day, 1-year, 2-year, 3-year, 4-year, 5-year (the 7 year is special consideration if it is eligible or not)

May I know the End of Life (EOL) & End of Support Life (EOSL) dates for the Dell PowerEdge R720 server?

When I checked the service tag on Dell's website, it showed the following:

Support Services: ProSupport

- Ended on July 4, 2022

Hi, yeah, Dell usually supports the servers for about 5–7 years, depending on hardware availability. The PowerEdge R720 has officially hit both its End of Life (EOL) and End of Support Life (EOSL). If your service tag shows ProSupport ending on July 4, 2022, that was probably part of an extended or custom support contract. Dell’s standard EOSL for the R720 was actually back in 2018.

Could you please confirm DELL's current EOSL end date/year for the PowerEdge R740 based upon current hardware availability? Would it be in 2026, 2027, 2030, etc.? 

Also, based upon your year determination, will DELL adjust the EOSL date more near term, farther out, or is the date fixed?

I would say as long as you have valid support/warranty you are good.

This post is very concerning, it shows a lack of understanding within Dell as to the security requirements of having hardware that is still being patched for security vulnerabilities by a manufacturer. I suspect that a lot of the questions regarding "support" are actually looking to understand when security patches will no longer be released for the hardware. This is a requirement of many security compliance frameworks including ISO27001, Cyber Essentials and others. 

I am looking to see if security patches are still being released for the R730 model for example as I have a prospect looking to attain Cyber Essentials compliance and as such I need to be able to confirm the end of support (where security patches are being released) date for their hardware including this Dell server.

Obviously for enterprise organizations that replace all hardware within a 3 year lifecycle this is not likely an issue, but many small businesses continue to sweat their assets if they are performing within requirements as long as they can.

Can you please let me know if the PowerEdge R730 is still being patched for security vulnerabilities or if Dell have stopped providing security patches for this model and if so the date that this stopped (or is planned to stop, if such a date exists)?
