Legato Co-Standby AA 5.1.2 - Support/Upgrade

Dear All,

I know Co-standby changed name to EMC- AutoStart. I would like to know EMC will provide any support for above program.

Do I near upgrade to 5.2 or 5.3? It look like 5.3 don't support windows 2000 server, is that true?

I am still running windows 2000 adv server and sql 2000, any advise for minimum change? thanks.

CSBS AA has reached end of life status. I'd recommend you update to 5.2, but keep in mind that the direct upgrade from CSBS AA is not supported. The best way is to install it fresh and set up the MSSQL module instance from scratch (it will take less than an hour assuming you don't have any custom modifications in the setup, and even then you can export and import back what you need after the upgrade).
Also, you will need new licenses. On the other hand, Autostart 5.2 is less limited than CSBS AA and more flexible.

Hello Gordon,

AutoStart (aka Automated Availability Manager) and AutoStart SE (aka Co-Standby Server Aadvanced) version 5.1.2 has gone end of support as of December 31st 2007. AutoStart version 5.3 no longer supports Windows 2000 and SQL server 2000, so the available upgrade path would be AutoStart 5.2 SP3 with hot fix 43387.

To upgrade you may either re-install, as per Tomislavs suggestion, or perform the follow upgrade steps. Both steps require a new license, so I would suggest obtaining a new license before moving to AutoStart 5.2 SP3.

- Take resource group offline.
- Upgrade both nodes to AutoStart 5.2 and reboot.
- Launch the AutoStart 5.2 console and enter your new license.
- Close the console.
- Upgrade both nodes to AutoStart 5.2 SP3 and reboot.
- Apply hotfix 43387 on both nodes and reboot.
- Bring the resource group online and verify functionality.

The AutoStart 5.2 and SP3 binaries are available via Powerlink. The 43387 hot fix is currently only available through support, but should be available on Powerlink in the near future.

Regards,

Emilio
