More on auto start licenses

Hi All

I have a two node auto-start domain only using the EMC mirroring for Windows option (no additional licensed required I believe?).

My reseller has supplied me with 2 license keys of which I have added one but I am unsure about what to do with the other.

Do I need a license for each node of the domain or just one for the domain and one for each additional module I intend to use?

Regards
Tony

Hi,Tony

If one license is registered with the console, it is possible to use it.
Moreover, if one license is registered with the console for the module, it is possible to use it.

Example

AutoStart x2
Oracle Module x2

When these are bought, the following license can be gotten.

AutoStart License x2
Oracle Module License x2

There is no problem if all licenses are registered from the console.

Sorry to ask again but do I need one license per node?

This response contradicts what is explained under post "esg63365" dated July 15 2008. Here it details that "The base cluster license key for AutoStart is valid for the whole Domain and only needs to be entered once via either the Console or the FTCLI. Any other systems that are added to that specific AutoStart Domainwill inherit the license key." This I undestand as you need one license per cluster regardless of the number of nodes. If there are two nodes, each on the separate AutoStart Domains, then you will need two licenses because of the two domains and not the two nodes.
