DVD ROM drive making weird noises
When i put a game into my DVD ROM drive on my DIMM 4600 it makes terrible noises sometimes it sounds like the disc is being scratched thankfully it is not but it is still an annoyance.
In my event viewer under system i can see loads of disk errors saying:
The device, \Device\Harddisk1\D, has a bad block.
and also there are loads of cdrom warnings sayin:
An error was detected on device \Device\CdRom0 during a paging operation
does anyone have any idea on how i could fix this thanks

Hi Christy,
Just a tad more information please, May I ask what is the name/model of the drive in question? Any additional error message Code error, 10, 31, 39, etc...

Hi Chrisy,
We may get lucky, Dell has a firmware update for the drive that might correct the problem with it.
The first one is DOS, if you have a Floppy Drive; the Second one is the same update only Windows Base, no Floppy Drive.
If you have a floppy drive you can still use the Windows Base, your choice.
If you do not feel comfortable doing this, please contact Dell by phone and request the Tech to walk you through the update, real time is much better than typing...
