YET ANOTHER DVD PROBLEM

I have a WDC WD400BB-75JHC0. Is that a DVD/CD ROM? I'm not sure, because my CD-ROM (Drive D:) doesn't show up on explorer. For some reason it disappeared after I tried installing Half-Life 2 Collector's Edition DVD. I cannot install it simply because my DVD/CD-ROM doesnt realize its there. Whenever I put the HL2 DVD in, and then click Drive D: all it shows is "Please insert CD in the drive"

I dont understand this. Help would truly be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Absolution,

Lets see if there is a problem with the drivers. Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 15, article 1; Section 20, article 3; section 11, article 2.

Also, if perhaps you have Sonic`s DLA program, consider disabling it, same cD/RW link, Section 13-0, article 12.

Best Regards

Hi Absolution,

This sounds like the old disappearing act we have seen with the Upper & Lower Filters; same CD/RW link, Section 12, article 10.
The article mentions Roxio but we have seen it regardless of a particular burning program.
Windows will re-build the filters once you re-boot.

Best Regards

In the Device Manager there is nothing listed as CD-ROM. Weird because I can clearly see the hardware installed in my PC right under me. So I cannot uninstall/disable the CD-ROM because its absent in the dm list.
