DST fix for ECC strange undocumented message during install

Can someone help..
I received the following message during the install and do not know how to proceed. ticket opened with support- but waiting :O)

Please shut down Oracle instances running out of this ORACLE_HOME
(Oracle Home = e:\ecc\repository)
Is this system ready for updating?
Please respond Y|N >

Rolling back patch 4579590...

Creating log file "E:\ecc\repository\.patch_storage\4579590\RollBack_4579590_03-08-2007_12-31-1
1.log"

Rolling back with all-node mode.
OPatch detected non-cluster Oracle Home from the inventory and will patch the local system only
.

Oracle instances have been shut down, proceeding with auto-rollback.

Executing the Roll-back pre-patch script (E:\ecc\repository\.patch_storage\4579590\custom\scrip
ts\pre.bat)...
1 dir(s) moved.

Removing patch 4579590...

Restoring copied files...

OPatch encounters the following file roll-back issues:
The following files had problems with being restored:
1. e:\ecc\repository\bin\oraclient9.dll
2. e:\ecc\repository\bin\oracommon9.dll
3. e:\ecc\repository\bin\orageneric9.dll
4. e:\ecc\repository\bin\oran9.dll
5. e:\ecc\repository\bin\oranls9.dll
6. e:\ecc\repository\bin\orannzsbb9.dll
7. e:\ecc\repository\bin\orapls9.dll

Replying 'Y' will terminate the patch roll-back immediately. It WILL NOT restore any updates th
at have been performed to this point. It WILL NOT update the inventory.
Replying 'N' will update the inventory showing the patch has been removed.

Do you want to STOP?
Please respond Y|N >

Hi Debra,
It looks like you were applying the oracle patch, hotfix 3862, and things got 'exciting'.
It also looks like perhaps one or more of the oracle processes might have still been running on the ControlCenter server. Ideally, the ecc install process should gracefully shut them down, but that might not have actually happened.
Anyway, I compared the log you submitted to mine. The problem is noted with at the following line:
OPatch encounters the following file roll-back issues:
The main patch calls the previous patch rollback- in your case that's 4579590. You can see this in the timestamps in the ecc\repository\.patch_storage\4579590 and the ecc\repository\.patch_storage\5654905 directories.
So, it looks to me like the oracle patch 4579590 rollback failed. If you still have that patch, you could try re-applying it.
Let me know what EMC says about this one....
Thanks,

Julianne

Hi Debra,
Please let me know if this was helpful (I'd love to get the points!).
Thanks!

PS Was EMC able to help you finish your DST patching?

This patch has been a mess across the board.

I had this same problem, almost exactly, and ended up having to re-install ECC after various attempts from support to get it resolved.

I re-installed ECC to SP4. Everything clean, using EMC uninstall procedures, tried the patch again and it failed even quicker.

Of course, I STILL have a support ticket open on this issue as well.

Sorry I dont have a better outlook for you....
