Downloading Unity VSA Community Edition – Updated Access Options

What This Guide Covers

This guide explains how to obtain the Unity VSA Community Edition OVA file, why older download links may no longer work, and the current process for accessing software and licensing.

Quick Fix Summary

  • Unity VSA Community Edition is now distributed directly through Dell support channels, not public URLs.
  • Licensing services may occasionally be unavailable; retry after service restoration.
  • Users typically receive download links via Dell Support upon request.

Overview

Older public download pages for Unity VSA Community Edition are no longer accessible. Attempts to access previous URLs may result in missing content or access restrictions. Dell now distributes the Community Edition package directly to validated requestors, ensuring secure and controlled access.

Error Indicators

Users may encounter:

  • “Content not accessible” or similar messages when using old URLs.
  • “Missing User Information” during download attempts.
  • Activation failures when the license server is temporarily down.

Possible Causes

  • Deprecated links: Historical download URLs have been retired.
  • Account validation requirements: Some links require a Microsoft‑linked email or validated Dell account.
  • License server availability: Licensing services may be intermittently offline.

Troubleshooting Steps

1. Request the Latest Download Link (Confirmed Fix)

  1. Sign in to your Dell account.
  2. Open a Dell Support case or post in the Dell Unity Community forum.
  3. A Dell representative will provide an updated download link directly.
    • This is the primary supported method and repeatedly confirmed across threads.

2. Ensure Correct Account Type for Access

Some download locations require use of an email address associated with a Microsoft‑linked account.
If access is denied, update or validate your account credentials before retrying.

3. Retry License Activation Later

If activation fails:

  1. Wait for service restoration if the license server is down.
  2. Retry activation once Dell updates the service status.
    • Users have been informed of temporary outages with estimated restoration windows.

4. Use the Official License Page

If activation is required and the service is online, you can use Dell’s licensing portal:
https://www.dell.com/en-us/dt/auth/elmeval.htm

Additional Notes

  • Some Community Edition OVA builds (e.g., legacy versions <5.5.1.0) are available only by request through Dell Support.
  • The Community Edition remains accessible but must be distributed securely and may require account validation.
  • Ensure correct region settings and account completeness in your Dell profile to avoid “Missing User Information.”

Hi,

I have downloaded the OVA. I assume the OVA for the Community Edition and the General option are the same.

However, I'm unable to generate the Community Edition license file using the provided licensing link. Could you please confirm whether the same OVA should be used for the Community Edition, and if there is an alternative way to obtain the license file or if the licensing portal is currently experiencing an issue?
