Dell Optimizer 6.3.3.0 says Dell XPS 8950 is not compatible

Question

I received a Dell message that Dell Digital Delivery services and the related suite of Dell apps had reached end-of-life and should be replaced with Dell Optimizer 6.x.

I eventually found Dell Optimizer 6.3.3.0 for PCs on the Dell support site, and installed it.

When I try to run it on my Dell XPS 8950 desktop running Windows 11 Pro, it says it needs a compatible PC running Windows 10 or Windows 11, and gives the option to Uninstall or Close.

Any ideas?

If I go to your XPS 8950 support page at https://www.dell.com/support/product-details/en-us/product/xps-8950-desktop/drivers and click "Select Drivers" there is no compatible Dell Optimizer app listed there. The FAQ section of the support article Dell Optimizer 6.0 Overview and Common Questions states in part:

Why does the Dell Optimizer installer fail with a message stating that my computer is not supported?

You cannot install Dell Optimizer on operating systems other than Windows 10 1803 or later. Dell Optimizer is only supported on all Dell computers launched after September 2024 (excluding ARM).

From the support article Dell Digital Delivery and Alienware Digital Delivery End of Life Announcement (last modified 11-Feb-2026):

If your device does not support Dell Optimizer 6.x, or if you have an Alienware branded device, install the Dell Purchased Apps standalone application from the Microsoft Store.

The old Dell Digital Delivery app was installed on my Inspiron 5584 laptop at the factory, but I uninstalled it because I did not purchase any third-party applications like Adobe Photoshop, CyberLink PowerDirector, etc. from Dell when I bought my laptop in 2019. If you did not purchase any of the third-party applications listed in the support article Dell Digital Delivery: FAQs, Installation, Troubleshooting (expand the section titled "What software is available in Dell Digital Delivery?") when you bought your XPS 8950 then you don't need to install the new Dell Purchased Apps standalone application from the Microsoft Store.

You should also read the support article Transition to the New Dell Optimizer for a list of programs (and their end-of-support dates) that Dell Optimizer 6.0 is replacing. Let us know if any of those apps other than Dell Digital Delivery (e.g., My Dell v2.x, MyDell v3.x, Dell Power Manager, etc.) are currently installed on your system.

That's a thorough response and helpful information. I did browse through Dell Support looking for it, but it's such a maze I kept going in circles!

I only have Dell Command Update and Dell Display & Peripheral Manager for my USB hub monitor, installed now. I had to get rid of Dell Support Assist because it made the system unstable.
