Upgrade to iDRAC6 Express?

I have run into a few R410 that after I configure BMC network in Control-E I am not able to get to the iDRAC6  GUI or even ssh to run racadm commands. I can ping the IP so the network settings are fine.

When I enter USC I see a statement that talks about upgrading to iDRAC Express.

I thought iDRAC Express was standard in all R410 chassis. Is this not the case and is this the reason I am not able to access the iDRAC as I normally do with my other R410s?

Here is a pic.

Hi Cameron,

the iDRAC Express is not standard in a R410. Only from R610 you have express as default.

So it looks like you have only embedded BMC.

If you want you can check it by entering your Servicetag on this page:

www.dell.com/.../poweredge-r410

Or you open the server and look after a small black box located near the PCI Slots. If you have this box the iDRAC express is installed.

Best regards

Flo
