Please go here http://cot.ag/bZQE5D to download the latest PC Suite if you have upgraded Android to 2.1.

Long address:

Please respond to this post if you still have issues with syncing your Streak after you install this new PC Suite software. It is very helpful if you include specific details in your response. I will be addressing other post-Android 2.1-update-issues in a separate blog post after reviewing some additional customer posts on this forum.

But it does not allow me to restore anything from my previous backup pre-OS update.

Just says " No compatible Backups found"

Hello Amy!

Thanks for this information.  I downloaded the file and installed it on my PC and hey-presto My Streak connected!

I immediatly did a backup and all seemed to go ok with 2 exceptions :(

1) The backup said it completed with some notes - and these are as follows (taken from the properties in the backup manager)

Backup

Name:xxx

Date: 09/09/2010 12:14:40
Type: Full backup
Size: 0 bytes

Mobile Phone
Mobile Phone IMEI: xxx
Mobile Phone Model: Dell Streak
Name: Chris Streak

Categories
First boot
All user data

Backup Status
Successful with 2 remark(s).

Remarks
All user data:
telecom/data - Item not found.

First boot:
  telecom/firstboot - Item not found.

And 2) It left a notice in the notification bar which when I click on it shows the little 'Phone is Backing up'  window and then kind of hung - powered off and on to recover.

So, judging from the size of the backup being 0 bytes - I think it has failed - over to you :)

Hello,

Downloaded the updated PC Suite and installed it on the laptop. Did a backup and after the backup I disconnected the USB correctly. Then a few minutes later the Streak starts doing a backup whilst not connected the to laptop. Had to turn off the Streak and turn it back on to remove the backup 'Please wait' window. Not sure if this was intended. Also this was done straight after installing the 2.1 update; so it was (with the exception of contacts, wi-fi settings and the homepage set on the browser) clean.

Thanks, Beani

Hello romi74, dunno if this will help. Had the same problem, fixed it by having the Streak connected with the USB to the computer and 're-mount'ing it each time it disconnected whilst installing, restarting and starting up the Dell PC Suite. After the restart when the Streak was connected to the computer, the PC Suite would run the setup wizard and pickup the device. Should be an option to run the wizard or scan I think, but thats how I did it.

Thanks, Beani

Hi Amy,

Just downloaded the PC Suite and it all ran ok and sync'd ok, got my contacts back and calendar entries.

However, I still can't connect to the market place, it asks me to enter my gmail details and then sits there saying it is connecting to Google servers to set up my account (?) then complains that I don't have wifi access even though it is showing in the bar at the top. Then it just goes round in circles.

As I can't connect to the market place I can't get back any of the apps I had previously downloaded.

Hate the new keyboard, if this was a result of customer feedback then you need to discount everything they have said because this is just awful, I really liked the 1.6 keyboard with the built in numerical area as this really set it apart from the iphone (I have a 3GS) and it doesn't seem to be as accurate now as it once was.

It totally reset my screens layouts.

Battery life seems to be much shorter under 2.1

Settings > Manage Applications doesn't retain the setting "Filter - Running" and defaults to downloaded - not much use if I can't get to the market place.

Cheers

Not sure where the bug lies, I had the same issue.

You need to turn the Wireless off and login into Google via Phone Data Connection.

You can then turn Wireless back on and it all works.

I have installed the updated PC Suite and can now connect to my desktop pc but I cannot synchronise with Outlook. I only get a message saying "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client." When I try to configure the Sync Manager Settings I get a message saying "No Outlook profiles was found. Please ensure that at least one Outlook profile exists."

I am using Outlook 2010 and it is the default (and only) mail client running on Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit). I am somewhat confused as to what is going on as this combination worked prior to the Android update. I am not impressed by the diabolical grammar (profiles was?) and even less by the apparent lack of support for a version of Outlook that has been around for about a year or so.

I note that the Sync Manager settings apparently recognise upto Outlook 2007. I have a backup laptop running Office 2007 under XP and this doesn't work either as, although the machine has recognised the hardware when I connect the phone, the PC Suite still says there is no phone connected.

Sync seems to work with Windows Contacts but that's not much use as all my contacts are in Outlook. Can anybody offer a solution?

Loaded the latest PC Sync

Instantly recognised the Streak

Seems faster to sync

BIG BUG on my phone:  twice today the end call button has ceased working and so I have had to take the battery out to stop the call.

BIG BUG 2  The screen loses its activity - not sure how, not sure when, but have also had calls unable to be answered because the unlock slide will not function. I have also had numerous times when the top, small areas of the screen become unresponsive to tocuh as well.

PLEASE can we have a sync folder of choice option to keep files between PC and machine

PLEASE can we have a sync e mail option a la windows

PLEASE can we have the numeric keypad back, maybe as an option in settings

PLEASE can we have the ready to go smiley back - that was a real gem for SMS etc

PLEASE can we have a portait set up for the home screen - NO ONE surely holds the Streak in such a manner??!! Its a tool to work with not a gimmick!

Fix these things and you may with other good suggestions have a winner. Until then it has a very untested beta feel to it.

.That said there are also numerous areas of screen layout etc under 2.1 that are better than 1.6. Bring on 2. 2 I say :)

I would just like to say a big thankyou Amy for the latest update on the sync issue it would appear it goes from version 0.0.40 to 0.0.48 this worked perfectly when installed on my pc and at least allowed my phone to be used again.

Unfortunately o2 has no mention whatsoever on there site and I had to go straight to the dell site to do this.

Apart from all the known camera issues my email refuses to work at all and the screen unlock is very irritating indeed.

Did Dell actually ask any users at all what they wanted added or removed when they designed this version !!!

So in short folks you need version 0.0.48 sync program.

Good luck with this fiasco.
