I am having the exact same issue. When I install the package, it goes through the preparing for update progress bar and restarts without installing anything.

I have tried it multiple times as well and even reset my bios settings. It looks like it reboots to go into the bios flash but instead it just does a complete reboot.

That looks like mine. I wonder if we will be able to get a resolution.

Working on this with our BIOS team but still don't have a resolution. If you need an immediate solution, please contact support and ask them to create a system exchange for you.

Brian,
This BIOS update issue has been going on for long.
Many have reported problem in this thread:
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/mobile-devices/f/4586/t/19542362.aspx
There were also some other threads where this problem was described.
I sent my tablet for repair, came back with BIOS A10 .
It seems that slow boot as described here:
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/mobile-devices/f/4586/t/19545434.aspx
is somehow connected to the issue with the inability to perform the BIOS update.
Our second tablet 7130/i5/8GB/256GB SSD had been working for a while without any problem.
Originally born with A06 (or A05), successfully updated to A09, then A10.
A week ago, out of nowhere, it started the slow boot as described, and today the update to A12 was not successful . It is experiencing the same problems as the first one. Simply put, it cannot be updated to a newer version.
I hope this helps somehow to narrow the problem.

Starting the Venue 11 Pro 7130 (i5/8GB/256GB) with A12 in the docking station it just sits there flashing the Dell logo and gets nowhere. Remove from dock and it continues the boot procedure. When Windows starts to load, put back in docking station and it works as normal.
When can we get an A13 that fixes this?

I upgraded to A12 on my 7130 vPro and my pen stopped working. I had to downgrade back to A11. Did anyone else have this problem?

You are correct - this is something that we have done many captures for. Units have been sent to Intel and the problem has been verified. Once the issue is corrected and the system is instrumented and tested again, we have never been able to reproduce the problem again, even with 1000s of cycles. So, we're in this situation where the issue has been open way too long, but in order to resolve it you need to be able to reproduce it. We're looking at some other options in an effort to resolve this. The good news - this appears to be pretty limited. The bad news - if this happens to you, you don't care that it is pretty limited. So, if you are seeing this, any level of detail you can share would be helpful. We have a team of people focused on resolving this ASAP and I may be reaching out to some of you with some requests to try certain things or provide specific information or logs. Appreciate your help on this and apologies once again for the delay in getting this resolved.
In the meantime, it would be great if you could share details on your system configuration (variant, processor, etc). Are there any other issues with your system (bangs in device manager, etc).
Thanks.

I'm having a very similar issue. My tablet is also the 7130/ i5 vpro/ 8GB/ 256GB SSD, with A10 installed.
I tried to update the BIOS to A11 and A12 but failed. It takes around 25 seconds to show the Dell logo during a cold start. But the 25-second delay is not present in a restart, during which the logo shows up a couple of seconds after the system completely shuts down.
Besides, i cannot wake up the tablet from sleep under any circumstances. I know the system is still running but the screen will not come back up. Instead, I have to use hibernate, which also has the 25-second delay to wake up and it's just a <ADMIN NOTE: Profanity removed as per TOU> to wait.
I have not experienced any problems with device manager. But recently, I just found out my windows update does not download. Sometimes, i received an error code 0x80073712. I followed the steps of resolution provided on microsoft website but it didn't work. I'll do a system refresh and see if the update issue can be fixed and report back.

The second battery included in Dell Venue 11 Pro Mobile Tablet Keyboard stopped working with A12 Bios.
The battery indicator in Windows, lists the second battery as not present.
The battery included in Mobile Tablet keyboard works on the second Dell Venue 11 Pro which is still on A10 (Cannot be updated to A11/A12).
Any suggestions ?
