permanently fail-over to destination filer steps

Hello,

I have a pair of unity 300F boxes. I use them for iSCSI LUNs exclusively. I'm migrating the servers using the current source Unity to the destination box.

So I take my storage clients offline, perform a sync with failover, boot up my clients connected to the replication destination, and allswell. I have RW access to my LUNs, my apps are happy, etc.

So now I want to reverse the replication flow. I don't seem to see any builtin function to carry this out, which is fine. So I assume I need to delete the replication session, delete the LUN on the former source filer, then setup a new replication session.

Assuming this is correct, where will I want to run the 'DELETE' command on the current session? Documentation states...

"When there are no issues in the configuration and a delete operation is issued on the source system, the replication session will be deleted from both the source and destination system."

So my thought would be delete it on the original source Unity, and that will clean it up on both sides. However, if in failover mode, is that a 'there are no issues in the configuration' condition? Does it really matter?

Based on above info, let me say SideA is original source and SideB is original destination:

Since you performed "Failover with sync" at sideA, current state would be "Failed over with sync" like below :

There is 2 scenario possible. One is to failback to sideA but since you want to use this as permanent, you can do "Resume" from sideB.

There will be a confirmation prompt explaining in detail.

After this, sideB is the new Source and sideB will be DR (switched over as you wanted).

if you are happy with your setup, you can switch over the replication instead of delete. That way, the destination which is in RW will be the source and original source become DR.

Refer the Replication documents for the procedure, it is easier to do via Unishere or CLI.

But if you decide to delete, it doesnt matter where you delete (in all cases), the message will be indicating clearly if it deletes the replication on local only or both arrays and you can delete on the remote array if it was issued on the destination.

Thanks, I’ve looked through the documentation a few times, https://www.emc.com/dam/uwaem/documentation/unity-p-replication-config.pdf, and I guess it isn’t clear to me how to switch over, changing the source to the destination and vice versa.

Sorry if it’s obviously right in front of me.
