Unity 380 - add additional hot spare to traditional pool

Question

Hi all experts,

While create traditional pool unity storage consider 1 disk as hot spare automatically.

But I want to add additional one more hot spare disk to pool because our location is remote location and part delivery take more time.

I logged call with Dell support, but technician said that it is not possible to do so.

Need expert advice on above scenario.

Hello Jimesh Makwana,

With your unity xt 380 you will have 1 hotspare for every 31 drives. Here is a link to our best practices guide and if you look on page it explains more how the hotspare drives are assigned and used.

Hi Jimesh Makwana You Can use 31 hard disk to allocate 2 hard for hotspare. in this way you use 2 hard for hotspare. ASJSP

Hi, Page 305 https://dell.to/3G6yd9A you can set the hotspare number with unisphere cli, but it looks like you can only do it when you create the pool and not after.
