Questions About Teatimer.Exe

I finally turned on the tea timer function of Spybot S&D about a month ago. It seems since that time the number of times I get "Program Not Responding" has increased. Sometimes when I try to get out of the screens in question the computer locks up to large degree. Some of the "End Now" screens are of processes like msn.exe, gcasserv.exe, teatimer.exe and perhaps a few others I can't remember. If keep working with these boxes and keep hitting "End Now", these processes finally seem to close down. Once though, it got to the point where Alt-Ctrl-Del did not work, the computer hung up on "Windows Is Shutting Down" and I had to push the off button to turn off the computer. There is usually an entry or two of  "Dumpprep.exe" in the processes and usage goes up to 100%.

The computer works fine for somewhat long periods, and there doesn't appear any one site that I am visiting where this problem gets worse. I originally had posted this in the Software Forum and someone there had mentioned doing an internal scan. However, I had not thought or mentioned the tea timer  end now box. Since this is a part of Spybot S&D, I was wonder if there could be some kind of conflict going on. I have the following products for virus and spyware protection:

Zone Alarm Free Home Edition Firewall.   Version  65_722_000                    Updates for all these programs are searched for daily.
Avast Anti Virus Free Home Edition  Version  47-0626.0
Microsoft Antispyware Beta 1  (Still able to get updates)
Spyware Blaster
AdAware SE
Spybot S&D, with Tea Timer feature now active.

Running XP on Model 8400, SP2 is up to date, and Microsoft Updates are looked for and applied weekly.

One other thing, and it probably is not connected with anything else, but I get several "Page Cannot Be Displayed" messages a day when I hit a link, but a second hit will bring it up. Have no idea if this is some problem with Windows or has a spyware basis.

Hi:

I've used Spybot since it first launched, and have found it better to leave teatimer disabled- too many conflicts with other resident anti-spyware. I imagine it may be in conflict with your MSAS beta.

I'll try turning it off and see what happens. I believe that Spyware Blaster does essentially the same thing...blocking malware trying to enter the computer, so perhaps this is some conflict going on. Thanks for your reply.

I use Winpatrol after using TeaTimer for years...

I dig it!
