Unable to do a System Restore and Recycle Bins are Corrupted

I'm unable to do a system restore,  I get an error report. Also I'm the system administrator on my computer and the three other users have corrupt recycle bins but I don't. My computer use to be set up for everyone being the administrator until I got several problems. I got the blue screen then the black screen reloaded my xp disk also changed my hard drive. After I put in all of the windows updates and my dell updates my computer has worked pretty good except for the system restore and my other users having corrupt recycle bins. Any help at all would be great.

The Info file in the Recycler folder sometimes gets corrupted and thus will shown a empty recycle bin even though there are plenty of files in the Recycler folder. Windows will automatically recreate the Info file if its missing so the easiest way to repair is to delete the Info file:

  1. Start a command prompt (cmd.exe)
  2. Move to the Recycler folder
  3. Enter the command
    attrib -h info*.*
  4. Delete the file
    del info
  5. Restart the computer

If its the actually Recycler folder that has become corrupted you may need to delete this by removing the system and hidden attributes (attrib -h -s c:\recycler) and then deleting.

As to the system restore. What exactly does the error say? it may be that you need to go in and turn off sytem restore and get rid of the old points then force a new one. Try following the steps here:

Sorry for not getting back to you, very busy with work. I was unable to do anything, when I did a command prompt and entered the information you gave me it just went to the next line waiting for another command prompt.
