A little more background info. Logged in to computer last week, blue screen appeared with message on background saying something like 'this computer with IP address was infected, please install anit-spyware..." I installed several tools, AVG anti-spyware, anti-virus, Spyware Doctor and some others. Initial AVG scans listed several infections, Trojan Backdoor, Dropper, Downloader... After using AVG and others to scan and remove these items, the blue screen went away and the computer seemed to be fine, although a bit slow.
Now after login, Norton keeps poping up saying that Trojan.Vundo was found and deleted from C:\Windows\sytems32\****. Also have IE popups appearing. Please help.

gotcha12

We have some malware in hiding

1. Open the folder you have Hijackthis.exe in ->>Locate the file Hijackthis.exe (a little dynamite symbol) Rt Click that file->>Select Rename->>Rename it H.exe. Then Rerun H.ex (formerly Hijackthis.exe) and repost your log

gotcha12

That's O.K. this forum software is real picky

1. I need you to help us out with some research, you have a new variant

Please go HERE

Put Your Name, and Dell HJT forum

and In the file to submit box, click Browse. Using Windows Explorer
  • (Right click on "Start," select "Explore," and you will see the "tree' of file folders in the left side of the window. Click on the "+" next to any folder name to expand its contents) Locate the file

  • C:\WINDOWS\system32\ljjghed.dll

In the comments tell them that I asked you to upload the file
Then Select Send File.

Thanks for your Help

2. We are going to run Vundofix again, but alter the driections slightly
  • At the Main window Rt Click in the Open Box and Select Add Files
    A second window will open
Copy and paste the following into the first 2 lines

    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\ljjghed.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\dehgjjl.*

Select Add Files ->> Repeat untill they are all loaded Then Close Window
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.

In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Then repost the Vundofix.txt log and a fresh Hijackthis log

Thanks for submitting the files.

Did you add the files to the Vundofix tool before running it as indicated in my previous post?

Yes, I did add these files:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ljjghed.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dehgjjl.*

After the scan, the only files it found were:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\bdeeg.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\geedb.dll

Thanks.

Bamajim,

Is there something else I need to do, or are we waiting for a reply on the files that I sent? Thanks again.

Great. If you need more info, I wrote down most of the infected filenames that were removed the last couple of days. Just let me know. Thanks bamajim.
