Activation required Can't logon to computer

Hello,
I had some major problems with my DELL Dimension 510.  I used the install CD from DELL and chose Repair.   It finished loading everything fine when it first rebooted after load it said Activation required.  I activated and it said ok.  When I tried to logon it said Activation required again.  I called the activation phone # for Microsoft and got an activation # from them and activated - again it said activation ok.  But when I try to logon it says activation required again.  According to the Info I found on Dell support page you should not need to activate after loading or doing a repair from the DELL supplied CD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A clean installation should be necesary to avoid activation messages...

On a machine where XP was shipped I had to update BIOS to bypass Vista activation.

It is not an option on BIOS, it is a file you need to download and it will update the BIOS version.
But I ain't sure that's for your system, but it may help or it may not.

I looked in BIOS setup (F2) and didn't see an option to bypass activation......

Try the steps 1 thru 12 listed at the link below:
http://www.tipsdr.com/windows-xp-activation.html

That should fix it.

I did a repair. It told me to register. I told it later.

then went here and activated my computer.

Never had an issue to keep activating.

I then went and got my Windows updates.
