limited user account - doesn't open ??
I have win xpp on a Dell 4600. I set up a limited user account from my admin access, but when I click on the icon on the welcome screen and enter the password, the welcome screen just pops up again. I can log into the admin account just fine. I'm sure I'm just missing something obvious, but I can't seem to put my finger on it. Can anyone help?
Thanks.
Thanks.

The problems should occur with all accounts, but perhaps the procedure here will correct it.

I did use the definitions file in the questionable date range when i ran my first AdAware scan. But, I checked my registry listing and the Winlogon was at C:\Windows\System32\userinit.exe,
turns out I have to LOG OUT of the admin account before I can log in to another user account (what will they think of next ...).
OK, so when I log in to the limited user account, when I try to use the MSN icon on the desktop to use my dial-up account, it starts to run the MSN installer. But I've already setup the MSN account in my administrator setup. So how do you tell your limited accounts what is installed in the admin account?

You should be able to correct the requirement to log out from the admin account before logging in with the limited account by going to Start|Control Panel|User Accounts|"Change the way users log on or off" and checking "Use Fast User Switching."
To share programs between accounts, open C:\Documents and Settings\ Admin account\Start Menu\Programs and copy any shortcuts you wish to share with other users into the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs folder. This is illustrated here.
