Media Direct?

How do I know if my computer is set up with Media Direct? I can't seem to locate it or find any application data. I want to wipe my hard drive, reinstall as if new, and partition for dual-boot set-up with Vista. I am running XP Pro, and have tried to locate the software but to no avail. I had Dell send me complete setup/installation discs, but cannot access info due to it telling me that it is a different OS. What should I do, and how can I find if I have Media Direct? I want to start fresh and try some different OS's. I want to make an extra partition for a Linux OS in the future. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help in advance.

do you have another button on the panel with your power button?

if yes, what happens if you press it?

that's fair enough and suggest that you don't have MD installed. pressing the second button should normally open MD if it's installed.

to double-check, you could try looking in disk management to see if a 2-3GB partition has been allocated for MD usage.

Yes under disc management there are 4 partitions. 53gb-C drive, 17gb-D drive, and one around 4.5gb and another of only some mB. If I do have this Media Direct, how do I access it? Is there software needed? I'm totally confused at this point.

No I havn't tried it will it was off. I have no clue what it does to start with. Dell sent me 3 cd's. One is orange and says Operating system. The other 3 are blue and say Application, for reinstalling Dell Tools and System software, Drivers and Ultilities, DVD for reinstalling Dell Inspiron Computer Software, and Application, For Reinstalling Cyberlink PowerDVD 7.0 Software. I'm pretty sure its on one of the blue CD's, but not sure. I can't be sure, because when I try to access them, I can't figure out whats on them! It says that its a different OS on the orange one, and the blue ones just open into folders. What should I try or do?
