transferring *.dbx files to a new computer
I am using Outlook Express and have gone from a Win98 computer to an XP Professional using the same mail program. I had some saved material in a "*.dbx" file and have tried to import it into the new program but have been unsuccessful. I got the address book to import. Is it possible to transfer the file data to the current Outlook Express? If not, how can I read the data which I have saved on a CD?

Richard,
Try copying the *.dbx file into the proper folder...tools | options | maintenance and click store folder to determine the location of your email folder if you do not know...

If it is a single *.dbx file, the procedure here will allow you to bring it into Outlook Express.

When I checked for the file in the maintenance store folder the the file below shows up but I cannot find it in Win XP's Explorer.
C:\Documents and Settings\Richard Cerruti\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{68C8549C-B54C-49C8-AE06-8BBD06069FA8}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
Is this hidden somewhere?

I was able to transfer the old *.dbx file into the folder under Outlook Express and installed it. However, it does not show up in the program when I open Outlook Express. I checked properties to make sure it wasn't read only.
I cannot find the exact file below when I look in XP's Explorer. Is this hidden somewhere?

This may be why the file won't open in the program. I replaced the file in Programs/Outlook Express but maybe it is listed elsewhere too and would need to be replaced in that file.
Any suggestions?
